November Notes

As November gets underway, we took a chance to share our thoughts about Remembrance Day and what it means to Kindergarten students.
After discussing the meaning behind the poppy (to remind us to remember the people who fought for our freedom), we decided to have a chat about things we could think about during our moment of silence. Many of us had very mature things that we wanted to remember, such as having peace in Canada and those who made that possible.
In addition to learning about the poppy and its symbolism, we had fun creating our own water colour poppies that we used to decorate our 'many tiny hands remembering' wreath and our bulletin board. Taking part in the school-wide ceremony was also a positive experience and a wonderful way for us to share our wreath and thoughts about peace on paper doves. Many of us thought of peace as something that was special and that made us both happy because we have it, but also sad because of the people who died to protect it. This just goes to show that even though we are little, we can tackle very serious and worldly topics to expand our minds even further :)
