15 Straws Challenge

Last week the Kindergarten's were asked to create something spectacular using 15 straws. After reading Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty with Mr. T, the class noticed that the helicopter that Rosie created looked a lot like the straws and connectors in our Science area.

Always up for a challenge, many engineers took on the task of creating some unique structures. Over the course of the week, a double decker TV, a helicopter and 'squared x' were made along with many other amazing creations.
Having noticed the number of engineering marvels and the amount of space they were taking up, we decided to share our success with the entire school! Ms. Bailey and Mrs. C had us write a letter to Mrs. Jordan, our principal, to ask permission to set up an art gallery at the front of the school. This way, everyone would be able to see our hard work and imaginations as they entered the school or traveled the hallways.
