Happy Earth Day

Today the class took part in watching the movie 'The Lorax' with the rest of the Primary division. We came up with lots of reasons why we shouldn't cut down trees; so make sure to ask us what our most important reason was when we bring home our picture that we coloured.

We also headed outside to help do our part to clean up our school yard and Earth. Since we use the Arena Park on a regular basis, we thought it would be fit to volunteer to pick up garbage there. We had a lot of fun going into the bush on the way to the Park, especially when we went through the long puddles. While exploring, we were able to collect an entire bag of litter! We couldn't believe all of the strange things we found. Amongst the mud, we also came across eight golf balls! It was such a coincidence because just before recess, during math, we learned about sphere!

Hopefully the rest of Earth Week is just as great as today as there are things to learn about and take part in all week. For instance, today we answered the trivia question and researched that Earth Day began back in 1970! We know the Earth is way older than that, but it was still neat to find out when people started celebrating :)
