We Went to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo!

Bobcats, camels and train rides...Oh my! This week the class traveled to a nearby zoo and had a blast on our year-end trip. Choosing to visit the zoo was an obvious choice to sum up our year long study of animals that interested us.

Even though we didn't see any cheetahs, we did come across a beautiful bobcat named Montana that we were able to learn about during the zoo's Meet the Keeper event. We learned that Montana likes to hang out up on the tree platform and came all the way from the Toronto Zoo.
Aside from Montana, we also saw camels, Burmese pythons, exotic birds, a potbelly pig, crazy tree top reaching goats and some beautiful swans. MT's favourite was the python because, "I have never seen a snake THAT BIG before!".
We also took a ride on the Zoo Train which took us across the river into the Enchanted Forest. Here, we helped the conductor collect her lost animals and learned about the Zoo's history.
AND...to top it all off...we visited the Splash Pad! It was awesome seeing so many students taking part in this activity enjoying the water. When asked if the water was cold (the adults all decided it was too cold for us!), BB answered, "oh yeah, but I love it!" Couldn't have said it better ourselves BB!
All in all, we had a great day of learning, enjoying nature and being together. What a rooOOOar-ific day! Thanks also to all of the Kindergarten family members who were able to join us today! We couldn't have done it without you :)
