Material Roll Pony Rides

Material roll pony rides? What are you talking about? Is probably the first thing that comes to mind. However, today in our FDK class, that was a popular area where lots of students were learning!

It all started when a few students realized that they could turn some of the donated long cardboard material rolls sideways and use their imaginations to pretend they were riding ponies. Ah! Now things are starting to make sense you say!

However, this learning opportunity didn't just stop at simple pony rides. As other students gathered, due to the interest that was brewing, the pony rides quickly became a large group activity where some students took on the role of the person who walks the pony (as previously experienced by many at the Lindsay Exhibition) while others were the riders.

Lots of great conversations also took place as students shared their thoughts and ideas about the activity with their peers. What a great way to develop oral language and stimulate imagination!
