The NumberJacks Are on Their Way...to the Oven

After a great deal of imaginative play surrounding the NumberJacks, the class decided to take their mathematical learning and try their hands at baking NumberJack pretzels. Using a recipe Mrs. Ridgway found online after seeing Stefano Faita bake on CBC's In The Kitchen, the class broke into two groups...boys and girls.

The boys worked with Mrs. Ridgway and created some amazing number pretzels after completing all of the procedural steps and making lots of different reactions happen with the ingredients listed. Mrs. Corner's group, the girls, also worked hard, but ended up creating some awesome shapes rather than numbers.

Overall, both groups had an awesome time learning how to measure, read instructions and learn about chemical reactions that take place when certain things are mixed together and then put in the oven.
